Catching up on Miles and Blog Entries

We had really nice weather over the weekend. 60s and cloudy on Saturday and sunny and near 80 yesterday.

Saturday's ride took us to Manhattan. It was cloudy and a bit foggy, but the winds weren't too bad. I ended up with a total of 50 miles. Sunday's ride took us out towards Joliet and up through Mokena on the way home. There were strong south winds but we went mostly east/west so it wasn't so bad. Total 54 miles.

The previous Sunday we had ridden to Peotone. Weather was upper 30s/low 40s but sunny. It was a nice day for a 43 miles ride. On Monday night I rode out to Frankfort too pick up another quick 20 miles and on Tuesday ran some errands on my bike for 12 more.

Those 6 cold weeks in February and March really left me out of shape. I think its going to cool off this week, but at least I got a 100+ mile week. More of those to come.

A Taste of Spring

Over the weekend the temperatures reached the mid to upper 50s and yesterday the temps were in the mid 70s. Needless to say I got some rides in. Over the weekend, there was still ice on the trail, so it was strictly road riding.

On Saturday, we rode out to Frankfort via the roads. There was a stiff west wind blowing so the ride out was slow, but the ride home was fast. I ended up with 34 miles for the day. Not bad for the first ride in three weeks.

On Sunday, there were light south/southwest winds blowing. We did a "change the clocks and start at 11:00" lunch ride to Beecher. I ended up with 43 miles for the day.

Last night it almost felt summer like. 75 degrees and sunny. With the time change, I had daylight until around 7:00. The warm weather through the weekend finally melted the ice on the trail. There were stiff southwest winds blowing so I rode out the trail to Frankfort, went south and let the winds blow me home. I ended up with 24 miles.
